Montenegro-UK Chevening Business Forum 2017

MAUK organised, in cooperation with the British Embassy in Podgorica, the Second Montenegro-UK Business forum from 24-25 February 2017 in Montenegro, at Regent Porto Montenegro, as a meeting point for representatives of Montenegrin Government, local self-governments, EBRD/WB, representatives from financial sector, domestic and foreign investors and British business in Montenegro.

This Forum was the continuation of the successfully completed first of its kind Forum that took place last year and served as a platform for (i) exchanging the views and actions taken to resolve the issue of non-performing loans in Montenegro with a focus on lessons learned and further measures, (ii)improving competitiveness at the local level and private sector incentives in order to foster economic growth, and (iii) authorities and investors weighing up their views on present business environment incentives.

The Forum was conceived as a two-day event comprising three panel discussions (Resolving NPLs in Montenegrin Banking Sector to Restart Credit Growth; Local Economic Development and Competitiveness; Business Environment Improvement) and a business networking event. Panel discussions included representatives of Montenegrin Government, local self-governments, EBRD/WB, representatives from financial sector, domestic and foreign investors as well as success stories from EU countries, such as Slovenia and United Kingdom.
